Kling Motion Control: How to Make Any Character Copy a Video (2026 Guide)

A step-by-step guide to Kling V3 Motion Control: what to upload, Standard vs Pro, video vs image orientation, clip lengths up to 30 seconds and what each clip costs in credits.

Short answer: Kling Motion Control makes a character from one image perform the motion from one video. Upload the character, upload the reference clip, pick Standard or Pro, and the result runs as long as your clip, up to 30 seconds. You pay per second of that clip.

What it does

Most image-to-video models invent the motion from your prompt. Motion Control does not guess: it reads the movement in a real video (a dance, a walk, a gesture, a turn of the head) and applies it to the character in your image. That makes it the tool for trend videos, mascot animation and any shot where the exact movement matters.

You need two inputs:

InputWhat it doesNotes
Character imageSets who performs the motionOne image, required
Reference videoSets the motion and the length3 to 30 seconds
PromptOptional extra directionFor details the clip does not carry

Step by step in MoodNode

There are two ways in. The composer is the quickest; the canvas gives you every setting and lets you chain steps.

In the composer (Create):

  1. Open MoodNode and pick Kling V3 Motion Control (Pro or Standard) in the model picker.
  2. Attach your reference clip and one image of the character.
  3. Check the credit price next to Generate. It updates with the length of your clip.
  4. Generate.

On the canvas:

  1. Add a Motion Control node.
  2. Connect a video input (the motion) and an image input (the character).
  3. Choose Standard or Pro, and the orientation (see below).
  4. Run it, then connect the result to an upscaler or another step if you need one.

Video orientation or image orientation?

The canvas node asks which pose to trust:

  • Video orientation follows the pose and framing of the person in the reference clip. Use it when the movement is the point, such as a dance. Clips can run up to 30 seconds.
  • Image orientation keeps the pose and framing of your character image and borrows the motion. Use it when the character's composition matters more. Clips are limited to 10 seconds.

What it costs

Motion Control is billed on the length of the reference clip, so a short clip is the cheapest way to test an idea. Prices in MoodNode credits:

Clip lengthStandardPro
3 s5776
5 s95126
10 s189252
15 s284378
30 s567756

On the 1,500-credit pack ($15), one credit is one cent, so a 5-second Standard clip is about 95 cents. The exact number always shows next to Generate before you commit. With your own fal API key, you pay fal directly instead.

Getting a clean result

These are practical habits, not hard rules:

  • Match the framing. A full-body character with a full-body reference clip transfers more cleanly than a headshot driven by a full-body dance.
  • One person in the clip. A single clear subject gives the model one motion to follow.
  • Test short, then go long. Trim the reference to 3 to 5 seconds while you try characters, then run the full length once you like the look.
  • Draft on Standard, finish on Pro. Standard costs about a quarter less per second.

When to use something else

If you do not have a motion reference and just want a character to move, an image-to-video model like Kling V3, Veo 3.1 or Seedance 2.5 will invent the motion from a prompt. The AI video model comparison covers which one fits which job.

Frequently asked questions

What is Kling Motion Control?

Kling V3 Motion Control transfers the movement from a reference video onto a character image. You upload one picture of the character and one clip of someone moving, and the character performs the same motion.

How long can a Kling Motion Control video be?

The result is as long as your reference clip. With video orientation the clip can run from 3 to 30 seconds; with image orientation, which keeps the character's pose from your picture, the limit is 10 seconds.

How much does Kling Motion Control cost?

It is billed per second of the reference clip. In MoodNode, Standard costs 95 credits and Pro 126 credits for a 5-second clip; a 10-second clip costs 189 and 252 credits.

What is the difference between Standard and Pro?

Both transfer motion the same way. Pro is the higher quality tier and costs about a third more per second; Standard is the budget option for drafts and longer clips.
